This article will detail the Screen section of Byte Order Mode Settings. Here you can configure the screen settings such sleep mode, changing screen orientation, and much more.
Automatically Enter Sleep Mode
Here you can enable sleep mode. If toggled on, Byte will automatically enter sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity. Touching the display resets the 10 minute countdown when this is enabled.
Block Barcode Scan Only
This disables scanning items using the barcode scanner. This also shows a "Sorry, this kiosk is currently closed" message when no items are available for checkout.
💡 Tip: Turn this setting on if you are using stations, as this will close Order Mode whenever your dayparts are over.
Portrait Mode
If enabled, this will change the orientation of the Byte app.
Landscape Mode (Default) |
Portrait Mode |
🚨 By default, landscape mode is enabled. If you enable portrait mode, then the app should resize accordingly. (Please see above images). If not, please see the next setting:
Rotate System Screen
This forces the Byte app to rotate whether the gyroscope is working or not. The gyroscope is a physical sensor on the tablet that detects the tablet's orientation. Sometimes this sensor can fail, so if you have enabled portrait mode and it doesn't change the orientation of the Byte app, then you can use this setting to force Byte to rotate.
Prompt User Name
Toggling this on will prompt the tablet to enter a name for the order. If it is toggled off, it will use an order ID from 1 to 99 on the receipt.
Display Item Prices
Just like the name states, when this is enabled it will show your item's prices. If you'd prefer to hide prices until checkout, toggle this feature off.

Toggling this allows you to show or hide the option group prices when a customer is selecting the item. However, the price will still show at the checkout screen and on the receipt.
