This guide will help you troubleshoot some of the most common printer issues you could encounter with Byte.

How To Print Test Page
Within Byte App:
- Go to settings main page within Order Mode or Kitchen Mode
- Press "QC"
- Press "Print Test"
Within Tablet Settings:
- Navigate to the tablet settings and select "Printers" on the left side panel
- Go to settings main page within Order Mode or Kitchen Mode
- Press "Quit" to exit out of the Byte app
- Swipe down in the top right corner of the screen to access the tablet settings

Press the gear ⚙️ icon next to the printer you are wanting to test

Press "Printing Options"

Press "Test Page"
Printer Unresponsive
Symptom: Printer is not printing.
Possible Solutions:
Check Paper
- Open up the top of the printer
- Confirm that there is paper in the printer
- Confirm that it is inserted correctly
- The "shiny" side of the paper should face towards you when the paper feeds out
- The "shiny" side of the paper should face towards you when the paper feeds out
Reseat Printer Cables
- Unplug the printer's USB cable that is attached to the back of the tablet
- Unplug the two cables that are connected to the back of the printer
- Plug all cables back in firmly after at least 30 seconds of them being unplugged
Reboot Tablet
- Press and hold the power button on the back of the tablet to turn it off
- Then, press the power button to turn it back on
Power Cycle Tablet
- Turn the tablet off
- Disconnect the power cord for at least 30 seconds
- Reconnect the power cord
- Turn the tablet on
Duplicate Receipts
Symptom: Printer is printing two receipts for each order.
Possible Solutions:
Check Printer Rules
- Go to settings main page within Order Mode or Kitchen Mode
- Press "Settings"
- Press "Receipts"
- Press "Printer Rules"
- If there are more than one rule for each printer, remove the duplicate rule(s)

Check Within Tablet Settings
- Go to settings main page within Order Mode or Kitchen Mode
- Press "Quit" to exit out of the Byte app
- Swipe down in the top right corner of the screen to access the tablet settings
- Press "Printers" on the left side panel
- If there are duplicate printers with the same name added, remove the duplicate(s)
- Press the gear icon next to the printer name
- Press "Remove Printer"
Not Printing Entire QR Code
Symptom: The QR code on the receipt is getting cut off.
Possible Solutions:
Power Cycle Tablet
- Turn the tablet off
- Disconnect the power cord for at least 30 seconds
- Reconnect the power cord
- Turn the tablet on
Reseat Printer Cables
- Unplug the printer's USB cable that is attached to the back of the tablet
- Unplug the two cables that are connected to the back of the printer
- Plug all cables back in firmly after at least 30 seconds of them being unplugged
Swap With Known Good Printer
- If possible, swap a known good printer to this tablet and swap this printer to a known good tablet
- Test issue on both tablets and printers
- If the issue follows the tablet, please escalate to Mashgin Support at help@mashgin.com
- If the issue follows the printer, please follow your company's proper escalation path to replace the printer
Mobile Orders Not Printing
Symptom: Mobile orders are not printing.
Possible Solutions:
Accept Orders From All Platforms
- Go to settings main page within Kitchen Mode
- Press "Settings"
- Press "Accept Orders From"
- Check to make sure that "All" is selected
