How to Complete Initial Setup

This article details how to connect your Mashgin kiosk to a location.

 

Step 1: Navigate to Initial Setup Screen

Go to Manager Mode > Advanced > Initial Setup.	At times, the kiosk will automatically boot to the Initial Setup screen.
Press Start to begin the Initial Setup process.

 

Step 2: Setup Network

Make sure the ethernet cable is connected to the back of the kiosk and plugged into a valid network port Choose either Static IP or DHCP within Network Setup Settings If using Static IP, please input the IP, Netmask, Gateway, and DNS provided by your network / IT team Press Save
Check Network connection by navigating to the Test tab Press Test to see if the connection is stable and reachable If the network is not connecting, please double check your network connection settings and if still having issues after, please reach out to Mashgin Support for further assistance
In order to view more details regarding the network connection, navigate to the Info tab Press Refresh after making any changes to see those changes reflected here
Press Next to move onto the next step once network has been successfully connected.

 

Step 3: Setup Location

Press the box under "Enter location ID provided by Mashgin" Type in the appropriate location ID If you are unsure of what the location ID for your location is, please reach out to Mashgin Support Press Details to confirm the location and timezone are correct
After typing in the location ID provided by Mashgin, if the name of the location and timezone are correct, press Save If either are incorrect, please reach out to Mashgin Support for assistance
Press Confirm to save the location changes 💡 Helpful Tip: Have no fear! This warning is simply here to remind you that initializing the kiosk to a new location will connect the kiosk to that location's menu. Please keep in mind, the kiosk can always be initialized to a different location at any time if it was accidentally initialized to the incorrect location -- just going through the Initial Setup steps again can resolve any potential mistakes!
You'll know the kiosk is successfully connected to the location once you see this screen. Please make note of this number, this is the kiosk ID, which is what Mashgin Support uses to identify each individual kiosk whenever troubleshooting. If you ever need to find the kiosk ID again in the future, it can be found in Manager Mode as well!
Press Next to move onto the next step once the location has been connected to the kiosk.

 

Step 4: Calibration

The next step is to calibrate the kiosk's cameras. This step is required in order for the kiosk to properly visually recognize items, however, this step can also be skipped and done at a later time if needed. If you have already calibrated your kiosk previously and are simply going through initial setup to change the kiosk's location, you may skip this step. Please see our How to Calibrate Your Kiosk guide for details steps on how to calibrate. Press Next to see the calibration status
The status of calibration can be seen on this page. If another calibration is needed due to calibration failure, you can proceed through the initial setup process and calibrate later on.
Press Next to move onto the next step.

 

Step 5: Register Serials

Press Save to save the serial numbers and hardware version information. If these boxes are blank, reach out to Mashgin Support for the details to fill in.
Press Next to move onto the final step.

 

Step 6: Finish

You have completed the Initial Setup process! Press Restart to finalize the setup.
If the kiosk boots back up to the Initial Setup screen after restarting, press Exit to go back to the main checkout screen.
You can check to make sure your kiosk has successfully initialized to the correct location by navigating to Manager Mode > Info and checking the location name as well as the location ID. In addition, you can find the kiosk ID at the top of this page as well. 💡 Helpful Tip: Press Sync DB within the main Manager Mode screen after completing Initial Setup to sync the menu details to the kiosk.
