This article provides details regarding the "Sync in progress" message that appears when attempting to reboot or shutdown the kiosk, similar to the following:
What does this mean? Is something wrong with the kiosk?
No, this message appears just so you are aware that the kiosk is syncing up to the database and that it would be unsafe for the kiosk to shutdown during this sync. It is simply a safety procedure put in place to ensure the kiosk can fully complete the syncing process before losing connection to network and power.
What if there is no syncing alert present in Manager Mode?
The kiosk may not display a traditional "Origin Sync in Progress" alert within the main page of Manager Mode, however it still may be finishing up a sync in the background. For more details about syncing alerts, please see Origin Sync / Building Features Alerts.
How long will the sync take?
The time it takes for the kiosk to complete syncing depends upon a few different factors:
- Network speed
- Amount of items / poses it's uploading to the database
- Amount of settings edited within Cloud
It is best practice to wait 5-10 minutes before attempting to reboot or shutdown the kiosk again.
After waiting, the message is still there. What do I do?
If the "Sync in Progress" still blocks the reboot / shutdown process even after waiting 20-30 minutes or more, please reach out to Mashgin Support for more assistance. Our Support team will be able to look into network speeds as well as the sync progress. Please see How to Submit a Support Ticket for more details.
