Here's everything you need to know about Aruco Codes (Dotcodes)!
What is an Aruco Code or Dotcode?
A Dotcode is an Aruco identification code used on the kiosk. These codes are used to identify items that look extremely similar to each other and that the kiosk would not be able to differentiate.

How can I view the Dotcode or Aruco Code associations for my items?
In order to view the Dotcode association within Creator, simply navigate to the item you are looking for and pull up the item editor. In order to view the dotcodes your menu utilizes as a whole, navigate to Creator and click Dotcodes in the top bar.

How can I update the Dotcode or Aruco Code associated with my item?
In order to update the dotcode associated with specific menu items, you will need to navigate to the item editor within Creator. If you are unsure how to pull up the item editor, please see How to Edit Existing Menu Items for more details.
🚨 Please Note: If the item has a dotcode associated with it, it SHOULD NOT have a Global Match (i.e. poses) associated with it. This will cause visual recognition issues. Please ensure all items with dotcodes have no Global Match entered into the Global Match section.
How to Add New Dotcode Association:
- Click within the white Dotcode Label box
- Search through and select or type in the name of the dotcode you would like to add
- Press Save in the bottom right corner to save these item changes
How to Remove Existing Dotcode Association:
- Click the X next to the dotcode label that you would like to remove from the item
- Press Save in the bottom right corner to save these item changes
What is the difference between an Identifier vs. Modifier?
If you select Identifier, the Dotcode label will override standard visual recognition and recognize the object as the item assigned to the Dotcode.
If you select Modifier, the Dotcode label can be used to add more information to an item (for example: extra meat on a sandwich -- the kiosk will still visually recognize the sandwich as an entirely separate menu item using the poses attached to the sandwich, and when the kiosk also sees the "Extra Meat" dotcode label on the item, it will also add Extra Meat to the checkout cart).
