This article show you step-by-step instructions on how to set up a Price by Weight Container.
Step 1
|
Create the Container Item
- Click on the "Add Item" button.
-
Add Container Name.
- We recommend adding the word "container" to the name so you can easily identify it later on.
-
Set price to $0
- The container itself won’t be sold; it’s used to group sellable items together.
- Leave availability to "All Day"
- This ensures the container is available all day as the items held within the container will have their respective day-parts.
- Under Additional Details set the tare weight in pounds—this is the weight of the empty container
- This step is crucial. Without this information, the kiosk won’t know how much weight to deduct from the total price. We want to charge customers only for the item inside the container, not the container itself. The kiosk will remove the container weight in grams from the total weight, ensuring the final price is accurate.
- If unsure of the container weight please place the empty container on the scale to weight it.
- Click on Create.
🚨 Please Note: Adding a price, and/or setting the container’s availability to a specific day-part may cause issues for customers during checkout. In addition, not setting the tare weight of the empty container will charge customers the incorrect amount.
|
🚨 Note: If you have two different container sizes (e.g., Large and Small), you will need to repeat step 1 twice—once for the large container and once for the small container.
Step 2
|
Create the Price by Weight Item
*if your item is already created please move to Step 3
- Click on the "Add Item" button
-
Add the item name
-
Set the price
-
IMPORTANT: The price field requires the price per pound. If your sale price is in ounces, you’ll need to convert it to pounds. Remember, 16 ounces = 1 pound.
- Add the Day-Part availability
- This ensures the item is only available for sale during the specified time. To configure your day-parts please check: How to Add Day Parts
-
Add any relevant tags
-
Tags are a powerful tool for grouping items into categories for reporting Additionally, Functional Tags let you customize an item’s behavior at checkout
- Under Additional Details, toggle on the Price by Weight option.
- Click the Create button.
|
Step 3
|
Add Item Relations
- Navigate to "Containers" and click the + Add Container button.
-
Add the Container Item first.
- Finally add the weighted items.
|
Step 4
|
- Navigate to the "Item" page in Manage Mode.
-
Search for the container item
-
Pose the container.
- This is necessary so that if the customer places the weighted item on the base, the kiosk will prompt them to move the item to the scale.
🚨 Please Note: Do NOT add poses of the physical container to the item, as this will cause issues during checkout. The poses must be applied to the container item. Additionally, ensure the item has the correct day-part assigned.
|
Step 5
Test the Price by Weight Containers
|
User Experience with 1 Weighted Item |
User Experience with 2 Weighted Items |
|
|
In both examples, you'll notice the customer initially placed the container on the base. However, since the kiosk recognizes that the item is priced by weight, it will prompt the user to place the item on the scale instead.
🚨 Note: If you're using the Extended Cart feature, you currently won’t be able to add multiple weighted items to the cart. Please ask the customer to purchase multiple weighted items in separate transactions.
