Kiosk Updates: New Item Posing Flow

We’re introducing a New Item Posing Flow to the Kiosk experience! This update includes a redesigned user interface and an enhanced backend architecture for adding items. It also introduces exciting new features, including streamlined item creation, ArUco (dotcode) item assignment on the kiosk, and enhanced resilience in poor or unreliable network conditions. Let's take a look!

 

Overview

	Items Page The Items page has been redesigned with a user-friendly interface that now prominently displays the Kiosk ID and current Release Version in the top right corner. This information remains visible across all subpages. The Items page retains its familiar search functionality, allowing you to find items by typing the name or scanning a barcode.
	The red X icon means this is a non-barcoded item.
	The green lined icon means this is a barcoded item.
	The gray dotted icon indicates the package count of the item. For example, a "1" signifies the item is sold individually, while a "12" or "6" indicates it is sold as a multipack of 12 or 6 respectively.
	Posing Page The new Posing page features an updated, streamlined user experience with clear, easily accessible item information. The Item Name and Price are now prominently displayed at the top in a larger font for improved visibility, with item details neatly organized below. The new Add Variation button enables you to create a new Global ID for the same SKU in different packaging scenarios, such as beer, large water packs, and other multi-pack items.

 

Asynchronous Pose Uploading

	One of the most significant improvements is the introduction of asynchronous pose uploading and processing. The kiosk no longer waits for poses to upload before allowing users to proceed. Uploads now occur in the background, ensuring a seamless posing experience even with poor network connectivity.
	If the kiosk experiences intermittent network issues, it will save the item locally and automatically sync to the database once connectivity is restored.

 

Posing Flow

Posing Barcoded Items You can scan the barcode while on either the main Manage Mode page or within the Items Page. The kiosk will quickly locate the item and download the corresponding poses. If posing is necessary, you can add new poses, which are easily identified by a new badge displayed in the top right corner of the pose. Additionally, the extra barcode scan that was previously required has been removed.

Posing a Non-Barcoded Item For non-barcoded items, begin by typing the name of the item within the Items page. Then you may proceed with posing as normal. Non-barcoded items must still be added through Creator. If you have a menu integration, please collaborate with your Menu Administrator to add these items on the backend.

 

Adding Package Count

	If the item already exists in the menu: Scan the item’s barcode on the Manage Mode page or the Items Page. The kiosk will display the existing item’s posing page. Tap the “Add Variation” button: Origin will retrieve any available Global IDs along with their corresponding Package Counts. If none of the variations meet your needs, press the “Add New Variation” button. You’ll be directed to the Add Item page, where you can edit: Name Price Package Count Once complete, you’ll be brought to the posing page to add poses for the new item variation.
	If the item doesn’t exist in the menu: Scan the item’s barcode on the Manage Mode page or the Items Page. Add the item in it’s preferred package count. Once the item is added tap the “Add Variation” button to add its new package variation.

 

Dotcode Detection
