This article details how to use Dotcode Detection to assign ArUcos at the Kiosk UI.
Assigning a Dotcode
 |
- Head over to the Items Page and place the item with the dotcode at the top.
- Keep in mind that all existing dotcode rules still apply:
- The dotcode cannot be placed flat on the base.
- It must be placed at the top of the item, not on the sides, to ensure proper visual recognition.
- ⚠️ This feature assigns dotcodes solely as identifiers. Any modifier assignments must be completed through Creator.
- The kiosk should recognize the dotcode in approximately 2–3 seconds, and prompt to assign to an item.
- Press the “Attach to a Different Item” button, search for the desired item, and confirm. You should see a success confirmation, and it will then redirect you to the Posing Page.
- Remember that dotcoded items should not be posed.
- If you're having issues with dotcode recognition please reach out to our support team.

Reassigning a Dotcode
 |
- Go to the Items Page in Manager Mode.
- Place either the old or new item with the dotcode on the base. The kiosk will recognize the dotcode and display the currently assigned item.
- Press the “Attach to a Different Item” button, search for the desired item, and confirm.
- Once confirmed, you’ll see a success message, and you will be redirected to the Posing Page.

Multiple Item Assignment
 |
If your location reuses dotcodes for different day-parts then there are some key factors to keep in mind when using this feature at the Kiosk:
- If a dotcode has multiple item assignments for different day-parts and is reassigned to a different item via the Kiosk, the system will remove all previous assignments and attach the recently selected item only.
- This setup requires day-parts to be properly configured in Creator and for the team managing your menu to communicate and collaborate on any changes as this will require ongoing maintenance to ensure assignments remain accurate.
